This book is a sequel to Those Who Wander.
I wrote it in response to requests from readers for the rest of Clara’s story. Set primarily in the Pender harbour area on the Sunshine Coast, it follows Grace Joe, a fictional character, as she navigates the barriers to her desire to become a nurse, due to her biracial status. Continuing through the WWII years, this historical fiction novel includes references to the effects on the Coast’s Japanese community as well as the little-known existence of ‘Indian’ tuberculosis hospitals and the shocking truth about what happened there.
