I have been living in the town of Oshawa, Ontario for the past several years, having bought a condo in a busy neighbourhood to accommodate me while I worked in the city during the week (returning to my country home on weekends). I had some trepidation about living in such an urban environment, convenient as it was, but found to my great surprise and pleasure that I have enjoyed the neighbourhood very much.
The people in my immediate neighbourhood were gracious enough to allow me to photograph them as they worked in the library, pub, dayspa, pizza place, mall, grocery store, college, and other locations near my city home, and the resulting twelve paintings in this gallery are a tribute to them.
The show runs April 1-30, 2010, at the Northview Branch of the Oshawa Public Library (corner of Ritson and Beatrice). See the blog entry for April 19 for photos of the opening (April 7th, 2010).
Again, my thanks to my models (for posing), the library (for hosting the show), and my neighbourhood for inspiring me!
Note: This exhibit will be remounted in another showing at the Bowmanville Public Library for the month of August 2010.
