These works are done in soft (not oil) pastel on either paper or prepared panel. In each case, the chosen support is acid-free and should last more than the lifetime of the collector.
Soft pastels (pure pigments in stick form) are among the most permanent of art materials and these works should remain virtually unchanged for many decades or even centuries. However, pastel is a dry crystalline medium, and thus vulnerable to touch. Therefore, all pastels are framed under glass, with or without mats. Some of these works are available for sale unframed; however, framing under glass will be necessary to preserve the piece for your future enjoyment. For the very best effect, choose museum grade glass--expensive, but the one that will provide the best protection and a reflection-free image. If that's not possible, choose Tru-Vue, a good quality framing glass.
